Perfume Notes
How to choose Perfume Notes
Choosing a fragrance isn’t about guessing. It’s about understanding what naturally draws you in.
Here’s how to find the one that feels like you.
Step 1: Pay Attention to What You Already Love
Ask yourself:
- Do I love fresh, clean, spa like scents?
- Do I love soft florals and romantic notes?
- Do I love warm, cozy, slightly sensual fragrances?
The notes you’re naturally drawn to in candles, body care, or even home products are clues to your scent personality.
Step 2: Understand the Fragrance Pyramid
Every fragrance unfolds in three stages:
Top Notes
These are the first impressions. Bright, fresh, uplifting.
If you love citrus and airy scents, you are drawn to strong top notes.
Heart Notes
This is the personality of the scent. Floral, soft, sometimes lightly spiced.
If you love rose, jasmine, or feminine blends, heart notes matter most to you.
Base Notes
These are the lasting memories. Warm, smooth, sensual.
If you love vanilla, amber, sandalwood, or deeper scents, you are responding to base notes.
Step 3: Decide How You Want to Feel
Fragrance is emotional.
- Fresh citrus feels energizing and clean.
- Florals feel elegant and romantic.
- Warm woods and vanilla feel comforting and confident.
Choose a scent based on the mood you want to create, not just what smells good in the moment.
Step 4: Consider Where You’ll Wear It
For everyday wear
- Balanced scents with soft florals and warm base notes feel effortless and versatile.
For evenings or special occasions
- Deeper base notes like amber, patchouli, and sandalwood create a lasting impression.
For home ambiance
- Candles with citrus scents and warm bases create a welcoming yet luxurious space.
Step 5: Let It Settle
If
you’re choosing a perfume oil, allow it to sit on your skin for a few
minutes. The true character reveals itself after the top notes soften.
If you’re choosing a candle, allow it to burn long enough for the wax pool to form. The scent will deepen as it warms.
A Final Note
Your signature scent should feel like an extension of you.
- It should feel effortless.
- Confident.
- Memorable.
Trust your instincts. The scent that makes you pause is usually the one.
